The Body Positive Community

The DC Boudoir Photographer is committed to supporting The Body Positive Movement by creating a community that feels safe, welcoming and tolerant. It is not lost on me that Boudoir is a luxurious form of self-love, one that is not always accessible to all. My hope is to expand the brand to feel more like a community rather than just a service I provide where womxn can connect with other womxn and brands that align with their values and can grow together.

Events

Here you’ll find events such as workshops, fireside chats and classes given by members of our community! As of now, these are limited to virtual events but we can’t wait to join you in-person once it is safe to do so! Have an idea for an event or would like to host? Shoot us an email with your name, background, industry, and what you’re hoping to share with the community!

Woo Woo Company

Wellness

Woo Woo Company is a community for skeptical hippies, bringing new, unique health and wellness concepts to Washington, D.C. We bring the topics. You decide what works for you. We'll explore topics that you would normally see in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sedona, and beyond. Think human design, astrology, sound therapy, crystals, manifestation, etc. Everything we share with you is to help you develop your own intuition. As you explore the world of woo, discover the tools and concepts that resonate most with you and leave the ones that don't work behind. If we do our job right, you'll only need to look inward for the answers. But until then, we'll help you on your spiritual journey in discovering who you are and what you want in this life.

The Sacral House

Personal Care

The Sacral House was founded by Kristina & Stacey who have fused together their knowledge and years of experience with essential oils, energy work, business and health coaching to share products they have used for their own personal and professional practices. From burnout, to breakups, to motherhood, to low libido, to career overhauls - they know that their stories are like many out there, and that’s why they advocate for more to witness the gorgeous healing that comes from reclaiming our sacred sensual nature in today's hustling tempo. The Sacral House is a collection of botanical personal care products created with the intent to ignite the senses and bring people home to their bodies.

Underbares

Retail

Genevieve started underbares because she couldn’t find a lingerie brand that resonated with her. “It is a landscape of extremes: over-sexualized push-up, lacy undergarments or functional bras that are not particularly pretty or comfortable (and still made with painful wires!)” She knew there had to be some middle ground—a brand that understands the need for comfort and to feel beautiful in our own skin. Out of frustration and the belief that we have the right to feel comfortable in chic but pared-down undergarments, Genevieve decided to do it herself.

The Uncovered Woman

Healing Coach

Dr. Kimberly Pendleton helps her clients reconnect to their bodies and to their power so that they can create a life they adore. She is trained in holistic coaching specifically in sex, love, and relationship coaching with an M.A. from Yale and a PhD from George Washington University. She’s spent time in the academic study of women's empowerment and the more ephemeral world of religious training. These weave together in her work to blend high impact practical tools with soft spiritual guidance and a deep commitment to women's freedom after centuries of being excluded, disempowered, and disembodied. She believes that when women feel safe and connected in their sexuality, alive in their bodies, empowered in their lives and inspired in their work, amazing things happen.

Carolyn Misterek

Artist

Carolyn Misterek is a painter based in Washington, D.C. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a fine art degree and for many years afterward didn’t touch a paintbrush. In a digital design career, and then as an entrepreneur, Carolyn spent those years building brands and creating products and content, rather than artwork. In 2019 she returned to painting full time and is currently enjoying the space where her past and present creative experiences overlap. Her work explores themes of perfectionism, approval and praise, through imagery mined from digital sources and often social media feeds. Using a hyper-traditional medium such as oil paint, she preserves otherwise ephemeral compositions, while examining the effects of extrinsic feedback on intrinsic identity.
