The majority of my inquiries come from brides wanting to schedule a boudoir session as a wedding present for their soon-to-be spouse. My clients then either gift the photos via an album or they add on the polaroid option and sneak those into their spouse’s wallet on the wedding day. (You may have also seen the trend going around on Instagram right now where bride’s have their wedding party give the polaroids to their spouse one by one throughout the wedding day. So fun!) But sometimes, an inquiry will reach out to close to the wedding date and I’m not able get them in before their wedding which is honestly always such a bummer. (For myself and the bride!) The Solution? A one year wedding anniversary shoot, instead.
Whether you’ve reached out to your boudoir photographer too late or the time leading up to the wedding felt too overwhelming to book a session, a boudoir shoot is the perfect gift to give to your spouse for your one year anniversary! Experts say that the first year of marriage can be one of the hardest: for some couples, you’re living with each other for the first time and learning the ins and outs of each other’s every day lives. Maybe you’re making big decisions together like buying a home or deciding to start a family. A boudoir shoot is the perfect gift to help reconnect and re-light the spark between you and your partner!
While all of my boudoir packages include the digital files, I also offer print boxes and albums to keep for yourself, display (discreetly!) in your home or gift to a partner. Since the traditional one year anniversary present is paper, that makes a boudoir album or a matted print the perfect gift for your partner!
My leather-bound lay flat albums are hand-crafted and come in three sizes with the option for a cover engraving and over ten colors to choose from. The album includes ten spreads (twenty pages) each printed on thick, matted archival paper.
Each box includes six prints with museum grade matting. Engraving is available for personalization along with different colored linens and silks to choose from.
A recent study showed that holding a physical photograph in one’s hands activates the part of the brain that helps one to remember experiences. By holding a print or album in your hands, you’re actually remembering the experience or time period in your life better than you would by viewing the images on a computer or a cellphone. On a digital screen, we merely skim the image. When we hold it in our hands, we absorb the memory.
Due to the subject matter of the photographs, we use a small-batch printer for all of our albums and matted prints and box sets. This printer solely works with professional photographers and artists to limit the number of people who may view your images during the production process. I also offer regular glossy prints in a variety of sizing that can be ordered through your online gallery, however, these are ordered through a large printing company with less privacy.
The DC Boudoir Photographer is a positive, gender-affirming space that welcomes all adult ages, abilities and bodies. We reject racism, xenophobia, transphobic, homophobia and ableism.
